Why you need a Website and/or Website makeover.
The Digital Revolution... or Whatever
Hey there, forward-thinking entrepreneur! Heard about this revolutionary thing called the Internet? It's not just for cat videos and conspiracy theories (Don’t come at me with pitchforks. I don’t make the rules); it's where businesses thrive – or at least the ones that don’t want to be stuck in the prehistoric era. Let’s face it, the Internet is our new Mall and more. Think of your website as your storefront. The front entrance and windows have to entice your next customers to talk through that door and once in there, keep them there. Think of your best salesperson as your copy (strategic writing on your website).
So, you may have this amazing business but no one knows about it….you’re still dreaming of that 4 to 5-figure month. What about a 7+ figure year? The internet is a tool that you should use and abuse. No, seriously.
Let’s get into it and I’ll explain exactly why you NEED a website. It shouldn’t just be an optional thing in this day.
Google, the Modern Oracle
In the mystical land of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Google reigns supreme. It's like having a modern-day oracle at your fingertips. Your business needs to be Google's BFF, whispering sweet SEO nothings into its algorithmic ear. Because let's face it, if you're not on Google, do you even exist?
There are some amazing SEO wizards out there who live and breathe the Google algorithm, know its changes, and keep up with the Jones. SEO is, well for me, not a good time. When I am optimizing a website for SEO, I am NOT having a good time, I’m just going to be honest with you there. But you cannot…I repeat, CANNOT skip this part. You can’t even be lazy with it. SEO the shit out of that website. And more. I don’t mean just stuff keywords everywhere, Google is smarter than that, come on. If you are insisting on doing your website yourself, please look up some SEO tactics. There are a TON of resources online and on YouTube especially.
SEO Optimization; is a necessary evil. Unless you love that kind of stuff, then yay you.
Your Business Card is So Last Century
Imagine this: You meet a potential client at a networking event. They ask for your website, and you hand them... what? A business card? In the immortal words of the internet, "LOL." Your website is your new-age business card – always accessible, never outdated.
Let me just double back on that for a second. A business card is still good, always good actually but it’s ONLY good if you have your website on it. And in order for that to be successful, you need to actually have a website. So make a business card that matches your branding, don’t just write your info down on some cardstock. Making up business cards is actually not an expensive, boujee thing anymore. The online print industry has revolutionized the whole concept. So go, and make sure your website is on it.
And for the love of god, don’t make some random design that doesn’t look anything like your website. BRANDING. Say it with me. My brand is my personality.
Social Media Schmocial Media
Sure, you're on social media, because who isn’t? But a website? That's like the VIP lounge of the digital party. It's where the cool kids hang out. Social media is the trailer; your website is the feature film. Give your business the Hollywood treatment it deserves.
Think of this scenrio. A potential customer finds you on social media. Loves your content and your product and is maybe an introvert. Maybe really busy and doesn’t have time to do back and forth DM’s or to even hunt for a website to order. Within seconds what was a potential sale is now a lost customer and probably forever.
To buy or purchase online is mostly an impulse brought on by influence. There is already that nagging “we don’t really need this” If you’ve made it hard to order, then you’ve just given them that reason to not buy. See ya!
But if you had had a website linked to your bio. BOOM. Hello Benjamins.
Branding, Darling
Your brand deserves to be worshipped like the divine entity it is. A website is the temple where your brand disciples gather. Customize it to match your brand's personality – whether it's sleek and professional or quirky and unconventional. Just remember, bland is banned.
I should mention, don’t just do what everyone else is doing. Right now what’s trendy is everywhere. Be different, unique, and stand out, all while still staying true to your ideal clientele.

24/7 Open for Business (Even in Your Pajamas)
Ever dreamt of making money while binge-watching your favorite show in your pajamas? A website turns that dream into a reality. It's your 24/7 storefront, always open for business, even when you're catching those beauty Zs.
A wicked website will convert those sales, in all time zones. The more you build up that social proof and authority, the more those sales will come through.
As a side note, please ensure your checkout process is seamless! Easy Peasy. It should be like taking candy from a baby. No really. Add to cart, check out. Boom.
Ahh, I almost forgot to mention, shipping costs! If those are ridiculously high, you will get a ton of abandoned carts. Make it make sense. Most people aren’t going to pay $20 shipping on a $10 item. When the shipping costs more than the item, you got some work to do. Get creative. That’s a whole other blog post though…so moving on.
Reviews, Raves, and Rants
Your customers have opinions, and they're not afraid to share them. A website is the place to showcase those glowing reviews and address the occasional rant. It's like your digital PR manager but without the coffee addiction
We call this Social Proof. It’s important. Why you ask? SO MANY REASONS. Here’s the top 2 to focus on.
It confirms that other people have spent the money and tried out the product before them. They’ve done the testing and here they are raving about how wonderful it is. Their likelihood to checkout now is that much higher.
It adds authority to you. You look like a professional to not only your potential clients but also to Google, who is the real MVP here.
The Competition is Getting Techy
Guess what? Your competitors probably already have websites. Are you going to let them have all the fun? It's the digital age equivalent of bringing a knife to a space-age laser fight. Get yourself a digital lightsaber – aka a killer website.
The Website Odyssey
In a world where time travel is disappointingly absent, a website is the closest thing you've got to a magic portal. It's your business's ticket to the future, where dinosaurs (and businesses without websites) go to die.
So, dear entrepreneur, stop living in the dark ages. Your business deserves to shine in the digital spotlight. Invest in a website, and let the world know that you're not just in the game – you're owning it.
Ready for the digital odyssey? Your business is.
